Dr. Anderson with a comfort dentistry patientBefore any particular dental sedative is recommended, you'll be asked to provide a comprehensive health history to ensure we make the safest sedation plan for your needs. Depending on your selected form of sedation, you may need to arrange transportation to and from our Findlay dental office on the day of your treatment, as certain medications take time to wear off.

Oral Conscious Sedation

At Anderson Family Dentist, our dentists offer oral conscious sedation to help anxious patients relax during treatment. This form of sedation is taken as a pill prior to the procedure and can be used as both a mild and moderate sedative. With mild sedation, patients feel drowsy, and for moderate sedation, patients may fall into a light sleep.

Laughing Gas

Laughing gas, or inhalation sedation, is a form of light sedation that is offered to young patients or those with mild anxiety in the dental chair. Laughing gas is a colorless, odor-free gas that is administered through a comfortable breathing mask.

For patients who opt for laughing gas sedation, our team always carefully controls the amount of gas to ensure maximum safety and comfort. With this form of sedation, you can expect to be fully relaxed while still fully awake and able to follow instructions.

IV Sedation

Your favorite comfort dentistry staff in Findlay, OHIntravenous (IV) sedation, also known as sleep dentistry, is offered to patients with extreme dental anxiety, to those with special healthcare needs, or to those who are set to undergo oral surgery or long treatment. IV sedation does not put the patient fully to sleep but instead uses anti-anxiety medication that is administered directly into the veins to help promote relaxation.

Most patients experience relaxation and temporary memory loss, and our dentist will adjust the medication as needed during treatment.
